Αυτό που λείπει από την ροκ-μέταλ μουσική σκηνή της Κύπρου και δεν το συναντάμε συχνά σε μια μπάντα, είναι η γυναικεία φωνή πίσω από το μικρόφωνο. Ήρθαν λοιπόν οι εκ Λευκωσίας Receiver να καλύψουν και επίσημα αυτό το κενό. Μετά από αρκετά χρόνια ύπαρξης, πολλές εμφανίσεις σε συναυλίες εντός αλλά και εκτός Κύπρου, επιτέλους κυκλοφόρησαν τον πρώτο τους ολοκληρωμένο δίσκο.

Πρώτο κομμάτι είναι το κλασικό τους Unite. Το 2012 (πριν 11 χρόνια!) κυκλοφόρησαν μια demo έκδοση του Unite στο youtube και από τότε δεν έλειψε από τις ζωντανές τους εμφανίσεις. Ένα δυναμικό άνοιγμα του δίσκου με την μουσική να χτυπά αναλέητα που θυμίζει τον θρύαμβο των 80s - 90s.

Μια ιδιαίτερη διασκευή πλαισιώνει το tracklist, το "Wilderness", ένα κομμάτι μόνο μουσική, το οποίο είναι ένα από τα αγαπημένα arcade βιντεοπαιχνίδια που κυκλοφόρησε στις παιχνιδομηχανές το 1989. Όλα τα κομμάτια που ολοκληρώνουν το άλμπουπ είναι μια μίξη από US power σε φανερό συνδυασμό με Iron Maiden, μιας υπάρχουν σημεία που τα "χορευτικά" riffs καλπάζουν, και το τρέμουλο στα φωνητικά της Νικολέττας να ταιριάζουν άψογα στο σύνολο.

Αν θα έπρεπε να ξεχωρίσω ένα τραγούδι από το σύνολο, αυτό είναι το "Arrow", ο ολετήρας που σε κάνει να θέλεις να αρπάξεις το σπαθί σου και να σφάξεις κόσμο.

What is missing from the rock-metal music scene of Cyprus and not often found in a band, is a female voice behind the microphone. So the Receiver from Nicosia came to officially fill this gap. After several years of existence, many appearances in concerts inside and outside Cyprus, they finally released their first full-length album.

The first track is their classic Unite. In 2012 (11 years ago!) they released a demo version of Unite on youtube and since then it hasn't been missing from their live shows. A dynamic opening of the record with the music relentlessly pounding, reminiscent of the triumph of the 80s - 90s.

A special cover song is included in the list, the "Wilderness", an instrumental track, taken from one of the beloved arcade video games released on consoles in 1989. All the pieces that round out the album are a mix of US power in combination with the mighty Maiden, as some parts have the riffs on constant "dance" mode and Nicoleta's vibrato vocals fit perfectly.

If I had to pick one song out of the bunch, it's "Arrow", the bulldozer that makes you want to grab your sword and slaughter people.
