Μετά από αρκετά χρόνια αναμονής, ήρθε η μεγάλη στιγμή για τους Receiver. Η heavy μέταλ μπάντα από την Λευκωσία, μετρά πάνω από 10 χρόνια ύπαρξης και επιτέλους κυκλοφόρησε τον πολυαναμενώμενο ντεπούτο δίσκο της. Το περασμένο Σάββατο ήταν η live παρουσίαση του στο DownTown στη Λευκωσία. Πάτα εδώ για το full review του άλμπουμ.

ΙΔΑΙΟΝ PROJECT

Την βραδιά άνοιξαν οι Ιδαίον Project. Πρώτη φορά έτυχε να τους δω στη σκηνή και έχω να δηλώσω πως μόνο ευχαρίστηση μου προκάλεσε το άκουσμα τους. Ένας ιδιαίτερος ήχος που παντρεύει την παραδοσιακή Κρητική μουσική με τις νότες του ρόκ και του μέταλ. Η τριάδα Βεγγέλης Γέττος (φωνή και λαούτο), Hugo Enrique Olivos (ντράμς) και Αλέξης Γιαγκουλλής (μπάσο) μας ταξίδεψε σε μουσικές διηγήσεις με πλειοψηφία τους συμβάντα του περασμένου αιώνα, εξηγώντας με δύο λόγια πριν από κάθε κομμάτι την υπόθεση της ιστορίας. Οι Ιδαίον Project ανέβηκαν στις 19:35 και ολοκλήρωσαν την εμφάνιση τους μέσα σε 50 λεπτά, στις 20:25.

RECEIVER

Στις 20:45 ανέλαβε τα ηνία η πεντάδα των Receiver. Μιας και έχουμε να κάνουμε με ζωντανή παρουσίαση του πρώτου τους δίσκου, κάποιος θα φανταζόταν πως θα έβλεπε αγχωμένα βλέμματα να προσπαθούν να αντέξουν την πίεση. Καμία απολύτως σχέση. Η μπάντα έχει πολύχρονη εμπειρία επί σκηνής με πολλαπλές εμφανίσεις εγχώρια αλλά και εξωτερικό.

Άνοιξαν με το instrumental κομμάτι Wilderness, μια δική τους διασκευή του soundtrack από το arcade βιντεοπαιχνίδι Golden Axe που κυκλοφόρησε σε διάφορες παιχνιδομηχανές το 1989. Ακολούθησαν πέντε συνεχόμενα δικά τους κομμάτια, trespasser, starchaser, raiders of the night, prowess and decay, falling dust. Μετά ακούσαμε διάφορες διασκευές, από κομμάτια που οι ίδιοι έπαιζαν στις εμφανίσεις τους καθ' όλη την πορεία τους και καθόρισαν την ταυτότητα της μπάντας και εκφράζουν ατομικά το καθ' ένα μέλος της.



Whispers of Lore το ομότιτλο του δίσκου, Arrow και Unite ήταν το κλείσιμο της όμορφης βραδιάς. Γεμάτοι ενέργεια επί σκηνής έδωσαν το 100% του εαυτού τους και όπως αναμενόμενα καθήλωσαν τον κόσμο.

Τρείς φορές είχα παρατηρήσει πρόβλημα με τον ήχο από τα τα μεγάφωνα, μια στους Ιδαίον Project και δύο στους Receiver, όταν τα όργανα επισκίαζαν τα φωνητικά, πράγμα που ήταν σχετικά ασήμαντο στην συνολική εικόνα.

After many years of waiting, the time has come for Receiver. The heavy metal band from Nicosia, counts more than a decade of existence and finally they have their long-awaited debut album. ΙΔΑΙΟΝ PROJECT

Special guests to open the night was the experimetal folkers Ιδαίον Project. This is the first time that happend to see them on stage and i have to say that only pleasure I got hearing them. A unique sound that blends the traditional Cretan music with the melodies of rock and metal. The trio Vaggelis Gettos (vocals, laouto), Hugo Enrique Olivos (drums) and Alexis Giagkoullis (bass) they took us on a journey through musical tales with the majority of war events that happend the last century, explaining in simple words before each song the premise of the story. The band played for 50 minutes (19:35 - 20:25).

RECEIVER

At 20:45 the five members of Receiver arrived on stage. Since we have a live presentation of a debut album, one could imagine that would see anxious faces trying to withstand the pressure of the big moment. Nothing could be further from the truth. The band has many years of experience on stage with multiple appearances domestically and abroad.

Opening track was the Wilderness, their cover instrumental of the soundtrack theme from the arcade videogame Golden Axe which was released on many consoles and gaming machines in 1989. Followed by five consecutive songs from their album, trespasser, starchaser, raiders of the night, prowess and decay, falling dust. After that we heard multiple cover songs, those pieces that the band performed live during their career and defined their musical identity, individually and as a group.

Whispers of Lore, the self-titled of the disk, Arrow and Unite was the closing of this majestic and successful night. Full of energy during their performance, they gave the full of themselves, and as expected they nailed it.

Three times I noticed problems with the sound coming from the speakers, once for Ιδαίον Project and twice for Receiver, when the instruments overshadowed the vocals, which is relatively insignificant in the overall picture.
